Florida Panthers Acquire Brad Marchand From Boston Bruins
The Florida Panthers acquired Brad Marchand from the Boston Bruins in a blockbuster deal.
The Florida Panthers acquired Brad Marchand from the Boston Bruins ahead of Friday afternoon’s trade deadline.
Florida sent the Bruins for a 2027 second-round pick (which could become a 2028 first-round pick) in exchange for its captain, per ESPN’s John Buccigross.
Marchand has missed Boston’s past three games with an upper-body injury he sustained on March 1 vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins. Per ESPN’s Emily Kaplan, Marchand is currently in Boston rehabbing the injury.
The 36-year-old forward has 21 goals and 47 points in 61 games this season. He has 422 goals and 976 points in 1090 games in his career.
Marchand has some history with the Panthers. Sam Bennett threw an alleged sucker punch at him during Round 2 of the playoffs last season which kept him out of the majority of the series.
Bennett and Marchand have since played — and won a championship — together for Team Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off.
Marchand has 56 goals and 138 points in 157 career playoff games, winning the Stanley Cup with Boston in 2011.
