The Florida Panthers acquired Nico Sturm and a 2027 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round pick.
The Florida Panthers acquired forward Nico Sturm and a seventh-round draft pick from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick on Thursday afternoon.
Sturm, 29, has seven goals and 13 points in 47 games for San Jose this season.
The Ausberg, Germany native leads all skaters who have taken at least 250 draws in face-off percentage (62.6 percent) while racking up over 48 minutes of shorthanded time on ice this season.
He previously played for the Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche, scoring 46 goals and 91 points in 316 career NHL games.
Sturm was a member of the Avalanche team that won the Stanley Cup in 2022, notching two assists and having a plus/minus of plus-2 in 13 games that postseason.
Additionally, the Panthers acquired goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen from the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Chris Driedger to add a third goaltender with recent NHL experience to the mix.
