Florida Panthers: Lines, Updates, Preview for Round 2, Game 7 vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
Florida Panthers coach Paul Maurice did not divulge any line-up changes, but he surely stuck to the principle he told his team ahead of Game 7 — “Be true to yourself.”
TORONTO — The Florida Panthers are holding their cards against their chest as they prepare for Game 7 of their second-round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
When asked if his team would make any line-up changes after a disappointing 2-0 loss in Game 6, coach Paul Maurice was pretty tongue-and-cheek with his answer.
“Oh, maybe… Sell those 500 empty seats out tonight,” Maurice joked, hinting that the sold-out Toronto crowd will be finding them out for themselves.
Whether Evan Rodrigues will be that line-up change or not also remains up in the air, and Maurice had another one-liner for that when pressed on his status.
“I think he’s feeling pretty good… How are you feeling?” Maurice said.
Regardless of who is in and who is out, the Panthers are feeling confident and comfortable heading into a winner-take-all game like this because they have the experience to do so after making the Stanley Cup Final in each of the past two seasons.
Maurice carries the same message he presents in himself to his players as they prepare for a game like this.
“Just be true to yourself,” Maurice said. “There are guys that will have to set an alarm because that’s the way they are build, some guys will be bouncing off the walls. Just be who you are — handle your day. We talk about that all the time, but don’t over-handle your day. It’s still just hockey.”
Paul Maurice’s Philosophy Has Built Florida Panthers for Game 7s
TORONTO — Whenever the Florida Panthers open up a playoff series, they prepare for it to go seven games.
