Florida Panthers: Lines, Updates, Preview for Eastern Conference Final, Game 2 vs. Carolina Hurricanes
The Florida Panthers expect some pushback from the Carolina Hurricanes as they look to defend home ice in Game 2 — which they have done well all postseason.
After a convincing victory in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference final, the Florida Panthers are expecting some pushback from the Carolina Hurricanes.
This is a Hurricanes team that only lost two games in its two series wins leading up to the Conference final and one that had not lost a game at home until Tuesday’s 5-2 drubbing from Florida, after all.
“We would expect the best game out of Carolina tonight, Brad Marchand said.
”You have to be completely prepared to match that and be prepared for what they’re going to bring. You can’t look ahead. It’s one of those things where when you lose a game you rebound really hard."
The Hurricanes have out-scored their opponents 23-13 at home, boasting a 28.6 percent power play and an 83.3 percent penalty kill.
Prior to Tuesday night, Carolina’s eight goals allowed at home in the first two rounds of the playoffs were the fewest among teams that made the second round of the playoffs.
Even entering Game 2 as the NHL’s best road playoff team at 6-2, the Panthers are wary of how much they feed off their home crowd.
