Florida Panthers: Lines, Updates, Preview for Feb. 6 Game vs. St. Louis Blues
Matthew Tkachuk is on a four-game point streak as he returns to St. Louis for the first time as a Stanley Cup champion.
Matthew Tkachuk returns to his hometown for the first time as a Stanley Cup Champion on a tear.
“It feels so good to be back,” said the St. Louis native as his Panthers are set to take on the Blues tonight. “It’s good to see some friends and family. It’ll be good to see more tonight and a bunch more after the game. It’s always special coming back here and as a champion it’s pretty cool.”
The Florida Panthers superstar has scored goals in each of the past four games, sitting tied for second place in the league with teammates Aleksander Barkov, Sam Reinhart and Carter Verhaeghe for second in the league in points in that span with seven.
Only Jake Sanderson of the Ottawa Senators — Florida’s final opponent before the two-week break for the NHL’s Four Nations Face-off — has more points (eight) in that span.
Tkachuk will wear an A for Team USA in this tournament, but he has a couple of emotional games before he sets off to Montreal to take part in it.
After his homecoming tonight, his brother, Brady, will be making a trip to South Florida with the Senators for the final game before the break.
“It’s really hard not to look forward to that right now,” Tkachuk said of playing for Team USA, with Brady as a teammate no less. “I’m trying to stay in the moment for these last two games but it’s right around the corner and we’re so excited for the opportunity.”
