Florida Panthers Sign Coach Paul Maurice to Multi-Year Contract Extension
The Florida Panthers rewarded coach Paul Maurice for his back-to-back Eastern Conference championships and 2024 Stanley Cup title with a multi-year contract extension.
The Florida Panthers announced on Tuesday afternoon that they have reached a multi-year contract extension with head coach Paul Maurice.
Maurice led the Panthers to the Stanley Cup Final in each of his first two seasons as head coach, including a Stanley Cup championship in 2024.
He was in the final year of the three-year contract he signed with the Panthers in 2022.
“Paul has resolutely led our organization to unprecedented success during his relatively short tenure in South Florida,” general manager Bill Zito said through a statement from the team.
“He is a superb communicator and leader for our staff and players, possessing a keen strategic mind for the game. We are excited for Paul and his staff to continue to keep the Florida Panthers as a destination franchise for the foreseeable future.”
Maurice is 98-58-15 in three seasons as head coach of the Panthers. That includes a 4-2-1 record this season and an Atlantic Division title in the 2023-24 season, where the team finished 52-24-6.
His 29 postseason wins are the most in Panthers history.
Maurice has coached 1,855 regular season games, which is second to only Scotty Bowman (2,141) for the most in NHL history. His 873 wins are good for fourth all-time.
