Matthew Tkachuk Talks Injury on Tonight Show
Florida Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk joined Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show on Monday to discuss the 4 Nations Tournament, his hockey family and more.
Days after sustaining what looked to be a significant injury at the 4 Nations Face-Off, Florida Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk took a trip up to New York to join the Tonight Show.
Jimmy Fallon wasted no time asking about the injury that had kept Tkachuk out of the latter half of the 4 Nations Face-Off Championship game and the first two — and likely more — Panthers games back from the break.
“I’m feeling better, I’m just recovering right now,” Tkachuk said. “But the last two weeks representing my country was something that I will never forget. Just to look down and see the USA crest, there is nothing that will beat that, so it’s incredible.”
Tkachuk’s timeline to return to the Panthers remains unclear after he underwent further medical tests at the team’s practice facility in Fort Lauderdale before heading to New York to join the show.
He will not be joining the team in Nashville for its Tuesday night class with the Predators.
The interview touched on a variety of topics, such as Matthew paying with this brother, Brady for the first time in a competitive setting, sharing the Stanley Cup victory with his family and the three fights in the first nine seconds of the first USA-Canada game at the 4 Nations Face-Off.
