Three Florida Panthers Added to Finland, Sweden Rosters for Four Nations Tournament
Anton Lundell, Eetu Luostarinen and Niko Mikkola were added to Team Finland’s roster for the Four Nations Faceoff Tournament in February.
When the NHL announced the full rosters for Sweden and Finland its Four Nations Face-off, three Florida Panthers players were added.
Anton Lundell, Eetu Luostarinen and Niko Mikkola will join captain Aleksander Barkov on Team Finland when NHL players take the ice for international action for the first time in nearly a decade in February.
Additionally, Florida assistant coach Tuomo Ruutu will join Finland’s coaching staff.
Gustav Forsling will be the lone Panthers player to represent Sweden after previously being announced as one of the first eight players on their roster.
Patric Hornqvist (assistant general manager) and Myles Fee (video coach) will represent Florida on Sweden’s staff.
Luostarinen and Lundell will both likely play a key role on the penalty kill for Finland, as they do for the Panthers.
Lundell is the biggest headliner of the pair — putting up eight goals and 19 points in 25 games — but Luostarinen has quietly been an impact player for Florida as well. On top of his defensive prowess and success on the penalty kill, he has three goals and 11 points in 26 games this season.
Niko Mikkola has been a reliable second-pairing defenseman since his arrival in 2023, but has picked it up offensively this season as well. Mikkola has a goal and 10 points in 26 games this season, which is already seven points shy of the previous career-high he set last year at the quarter-mark of the season.
The NHL will announce the rosters for Team USA and Team Canada at 6:30 p.m. EST on Wednesday.
Matthew Tkachuk was one of the first eight players named to Team USA while general manager Bill Zito and equipment manager Teddy Richards were named to USA Hockey’s staff for the tournament.
Florida has no official representatives for Team Canada, for now, but Sam Reinhart and Sam Bennett are both expected to be in the running for a spot, per a report from The Athletic.
