Wild Smack Panthers, 5-1, in Matthew Tkachuk’s Return
The Florida Panthers see their four-game point streak come to in end in a 5-1 beat down from the Minnesota Wild.
SUNRISE, Fla. — Sergei Bobrovsky’s first attempt at his 400th win was a dud.
The Minnesota Wild shelled the Florida Panthers, 5-1, snapping their four-game point streak (3-0-1) on the same night Matthew Tkachuk made his return from a five-game absence.
Bobrovsky gave up five goals on 16 shots and was pulled for Spencer Knight at the start of the third period.
Marco Rossi deflected a Kirill Kaprizov shot past Bobrovsky 11:40 into the game to put the Wild ahead early. Marcus Johansson fired a one-timer off of a feed from Matthew Boldy 22 seconds later to make it a two-goal game.
Boldy deflected a Mats Zuccarello point shot past Bobrovsky on the power play 2:40 into the second period to make it 3-0.
Sam Bennett scored Florida’s lone goal 11:19 into the second period, with Tkachuk notching a secondary assist in his first game back in the lineup.
Zuccarello fired a shot into an open net with 6:02 to go in the second period when Kaprizov made a move for a wrap-around to catch Bobrovsky out of position before finding him open.
Joel Eriksson Ek beat Bobrovsky high glove side off the rush with 3:55 to go in the second period to make it a 5-1 game.
Knight stopped all six shots he faced in the third period.
