After earning his way into a good chunk of NHL games out of last year’s training camp, Will Lockwood has another big opportunity in front of him entering his second training camp with the Florida Panthers.
Lockwood played 26 games with the Panthers last year, splitting time between the NHL and AHL before joining the team as a Black Ace during their run to a Stanley Cup champion.
With multiple key forwards leaving in free agency, the 26-year-old has a big opportunity to make his case to make the opening night roster, but he is not thinking too hard about that right now.
“To be honest, I don’t really look into any of that,” Lockwood told Pucks and Palms. “I come out here and try to control what I can and have as much fun I can and enjoy it because I think that;’s what gets the best out of a hockey player. That’s been my main focus because when you’re having fun, the work doesn’t feel as hard, so that’s what it’s been like this year.”
