Two Florida Panthers Added to Canada, USA Rosters for Four Nations Tournament
Sam Bennett and Sam Reinhart will join Team Canada for the NHL’s Four Nations Tournament. Matthew Tkachuk, Bill Zito and Teddy Richards will represent Team USA.
The NHL has announced that two new additions from the Florida Panthers will be joining the rosters for Teams USA and Canada at the Four Nations tournament in February.
Sam Reinhart and Sam Bennett will join Team Canada when NHL players take the ice for international action for the first time in nearly a decade.
There were no new additions from the Team USA side, but star forward Matthew Tkachuk, general manager Bill Zito (who will serve as an assistant to Wild general manager Bill Guerin) and equipment manager Teddy Richards were previously announced to be representing America at the tournament.
Tkachuk’s brother and Ottawa Senators captain, Brady, is also on Team USA’s roster.
Reinhart’s addition to the roster was a no-brainer. He leads the NHL in goals (18) and is currently tied for seventh in the league in points (34).
Bennett, who has 13 goals (T-11th) and 24 point this season was added to the roster in part because of the physicality and tenacity he brought that cultivated the culture of the 2023 Stanley Cup winning Panthers.
Carter Verhaeghe, who has a 40-goal season under his belt and back-to-back 30-goal seasons going into this season, and Aaron Ekblad, who has been part of one of the NHL’s best defensive pairings per most advanced defensive metrics, did not make the cut.
Bennett, Reinhart and Tkachuk join Aleksander Barkov, Anton Lundell and Eetu Luostarinen (Finland), and Gustav Forsling (Sweden) as Florida’s player representatives for the tournament.
